Pre-scrapping - 10x6 digital templates /sketches /printout plan

These serve as templates for the hybrid side of the december album, designed to fit the open 10x6 field on the pages. I have a tremendous amount of ATC-sized scraps after cutting a bunch of 12x12 sheets of cardstock - thus tried to design something to make them useful. Have to have 20 left for the CASAKreative ATC Winter swap though, but I have plenty more from earlier, so that should be no problem.

Pre-scrapping: the basic design

I've sketched the basic design for my 31 pages + opening page, and made a plan for how to cut the papers. Now the cutting is done, and the adhering remains. Well done so far :)

Pre-scrapping - the stuff

Oh well, a girl's gotta eat too. CU! ;)

My pre-scrapping plan

I've been thinking - and thus ajusting my plans. These two MME-beauties are waiting for me at the postoffice today:

I'm planning on cutting and layering them, and to make a digital template for the photos and journaling. All I'll have to do in december is printing and adhere (and when I know the phototemplate, it's as easy as shooting photos that fit). It doesn't come any easier than this I think

Holidays In Hand - Day 5

I have a plan :)  The promptcards: I'm going to make a 4x6 document in PSE, add the promtcard, rezised - and then I will have a 4x2 spot - perfect for journaling. Then I will save as day1.jpg, and just add the next promptcard into the same file, save as day2.jpg etc. Then I will print all the jpg-files - not on 4x6 photopaper, but on 4x6 photocardstock (heavy white paper without any texture).

Those will go right into my 4x6 December Daily album - and I have
  • the planner pages
  • the prompts
  • the journaling
  • the photos
all in one place.

And then, after the holidays when I have time to make an album, the journaling and the ideas are right there, ready to go into a beautiful 12x12 digital album, which I will print as photobook when it is ready.

I have ripped off all the pages from an old book, only the cover & spine left, and will cover it in textiles I think. I have a blue, green & golden in my stash that will be perfect. All I need to buy is tacky tape, and then I'm ready to go ;)

Update: I've also added a large journaling block on the back of each card! :)

Today's findings

Today's pick from our local newspaper:
Art exhibition with reading of modern fairy tales this Sunday
* Terje Hellesen: Den store løyndomen om korleis ein jaktar gnu
= The great secret about how to hunt wildebeest
Sounds crazy & perfect for my DS2 I guess.

sale of traditional cakes this saturday

They put ads together with the newspaper and normaly I just throw them in the bin outside the house, but today it was raining and I had my hands full with raspeballer [story within: the guys at work were going to work late, and had dinner delivered as usual. Oh my, the smell was heavenly - my favorite, raspeballer. Oh, the smell... and I was hungry... so, when signing out from work a few minutes later I called the bistro, they had plenty left, and I just drove out there and got three portions, brought them home to my boys - og my og my we had our private little heaven! :D] and when looking throug the ad I found this cute little cardholder ($9) that would be perfect for displaying the promptcards :)

Concert december 14th (Nordic Tenors)
- AND I HAVE A TICKET! :D :D :D. I LOVE THE INTERNET!!! :D :D :D

O helga natt (O holy night) is my absolute favorite tune for christmas:

The french original, Minuit Chrétien (Adam). I love the pictures in this video:

Swedish tenor Jussi Björling:

And then, concert jan 3rd with this world famous norwegian trompet player. I haven't decided yet whether to go or not, but I really want to. Florø was founded 1860, celebrating 150 all year long, starting with this concert.

Holidays In hand - Day 4

Download Crystal's paper.

Assignment 3:
  1. I've chosen some ideas from Jessica's list, customized a few of them, and added some ideas and recipes from the norwegian blogg Kreativ Jul
  2. My updated list of ideas & things to do is here.
I won't print anything yet, but at least the cardstocks are ready cut into size.
  3. The display thing - well, I'm not sure. I love the clipboards popping up in the gallery, but I haven't got anything like that. Using a clothes-hanger, maybe. I'll have to think more about this before deciding.

6 pages for the album

Here are the pages I've done so far. I haven't put date on them yet, for instance the plane-page is just in case I'll go to our HQ in December - I usually know only a few days in advance. The tea page (Voyage) is for December 23rd when I'm off to my parents for the holidays. I've had the ad-pack with cleaners for my glasses quite a while, and when I noticed it has the right size - well it fit so perfect with the MME tear off strip, I just couldn't resist - and they are handy when traveling I guess. ;) The envelope, well I love that one. I cut it into the right size, and stitched the side so that only the top is open. Isn't it cute? :)

December Daily: GATHER & ORGANIZE

GATHERING

First task is to decide on a cover/album and gather up your supplies
  • patterned papers
  • chipboard pages
  • envelopes
  • transparencies
  • numbers for each day of December
  • random pieces of stuff you have on hand that you have been wondering what in the heck you would ever do with them
MY ALBUM SIZE:

I've decided to use one of my old books that I found in Fjærland, the Norwegian Booktown. It fits perfectly with 4x6 pages, which will be handy when travelling - as I will do this Christmas.
The size also will make the pre-prossess less time-consuming. I plan to rip out the original pages and use the cover as is until the whole album is done. At least for now. And the ripped off pages will be used on my Shabby Chic LOs (Oh well...I know, I don't make many of those, do I... but that can change - anytime ;)

MY STASH:

I already have most of my christmas & winter papers together in a themed folder, and boxes with flowers, lace, ribbons etc are within reach. Yes I think this is doable :) Thanks to the girls over at the HIH-class for encouraging me to do both :)

NUMBERS:

All these alphas that includes numbers which I hardly ever use. I think they will come in handy. Perfic :)

ENVELOPES:

I haven't got many of those - but the thing is... I work at an office, and we always get invoices and such, and of course - all that stuff come in envelopes. Some with logos, some without. Some with stamps, some without. Now THAT would make awsome ephemera, those are part of my december life too :) Ah, I can't help it... I love the idea - and it's green! :)

Holidays In Hand - Day 1: Organize

I can't wait to find out which of the linked articles Jessica wants us to read in particular, and what form the journal/album will take. From the general forum it looks like she has a great plan, and I'll just wait with this one untill I know more.

Holidays In Hand - Day 1: Commit

Assignment 2Commit. Find a way to include at least 20 minutes of recording/writing/photographing/savoring/printing/
gluing/scrapbooking/remembering/slowing down EVERY DAY in December.

For today, that would be writing, which I have done on the forum and on this blog. I'd also like to turn this writing into a scrapbook page - a really simple one, but a start. I'll do that later tonight.

Holidays In Hand - Day 1: Values & Goals

Assignment 1: Write your Values & Goals

Values:

  • Togetherness, sharing, pleasure, having fun

Goals:

Because my kids will be away for the holidays, I will try to make the build up special for them this year.

  • Making sweets together
  • Altering containers in which to store those sweets
  • Finding time for boardgames, which we all love. At least twice a week, but the problem is all the things going on at their schools. Oh well... I'll add that one too:
  • Attending to all those school activities with them... and the toughest part
  • Working with myself in order to feel happy about those school activities.

Welcome to this blog :)

Hi, and welcome to my seasonal blog. :)

I've joined Jessica Sprague's class Holidays in Hand, expecting lots of fun. The holidays are called Jul here, we celebrate mid winter & the winter solstice - but the togetherness, warmth and sharing is the same as all over the world. I'll be celebrating jul with my parents, sister & niece in Solund this year, a couple of hours from here by car. My two kids and their father will go abroad for the holidays, to the warmer southern Europe.

Fav thing about december holidays: Candles in every window.

Fav food for jul is the western Norway traditional: Dried mutton ribs served with puréed swede, sauerkraut and potatoes, beer and akvavit. Yummy!
